Invention for Brass Tentet
Composed for the RNCM Brass Ensemble this piece is in three movements.
The first is a slow introduction, the second fast and rhythmic and the
final movement begins hesitantly using a variety of blowing and tapping
techniques, and gradually gains momentum.

The Seventh Seal
The title comes from the book of Revelations in the Bible and depicts
the opening of the seventh seal and it's triumph over the previous horrors
that had been unleashed by the opening of the previous seals.

Brass Quintet
This work won the Gregynog Composer of Wales Award and was given its
first performance by the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble. The single movement
contrasts fast rhythmic music with slower more reflective moments.

Concert Overture
The opening and closing fanfare like music encloses a central slow
section featuring an extensive trumpet solo.

Fragments for Wind Orchestra
Written for the Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra. Four short
contrasting movements. The first is calm, the second loud and brash, the
third a stately passacaglia followed by a perpetuum mobile type finale.
Hymnus
Composed for the University of Southampton Wind Orchestra and explores
some of the contexts in which hymn like music is used. In this case joy,
pleading, terror and processional.

Introduction and Theme
This is a continuous development of a theme derived from the slow
introduction . The main climax sees a return to the slow introduction
music and this gradually builds to a fast, exciting coda.
Wind Mass
Written for the Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra and consists of
four movements (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo and Sanctus/Agnus Dei). Although the
work is purely instrumental each movement relates closely to the relevant
mass text.

Meantime
A single movement, light, jazzy work with an opportunity for audience
participation. An ideal encore piece.

Five Folk Fantasies
Original folk song arrangements for an amateur wind quintet or,
omitting the horn, a quartet. The songs are Early one morning, Scarborough
Fair, Sky Boat Song, Drunken Sailor and Widdecombe
Fair. This last one is a set of variations in different musical
styles. A good guessing game for the audience.

Snapshots
Three short "pictures" for an orchestral wind section. Ideal
for programming within an orchestral concert context.
Prelude, Fugue and Postlude
An atmospheric soft, slow movement leads directly into a fast fugue
followed by a stately conclusion which refers to both the introduction and
the fugue.

Sketches for Wind Quintet
Five short movements each with its own particularly defined character.
The first is a prelude, the second is slow with instruments often playing
in pairs. This is followed by an energetic scherzo, a reflective fourth movement
and a finale which contrasts fast, rhythmic music with gentle, more
flowing passages.

Stomp

for an opener or an encore, or as part of an educational workshop.
